On Sunday 12th. September, West London branch had a visit to Brooklands Museum near Weybridge, Surrey. An impressive turnout of 17 members and family came mainly by bike, with a few coming in cars (Hondas of course). Member, Martin Haenlein, arranged for the group to have a guided tour of the “Stratosphere Chamber”, where many experiments were conducted in relation to altitude and climate. The day coincided with “Stirling Moss Tribute Day”. So, as well as the chamber tour, we were treated to a driving display of vehicles that were once driven by Stirling Moss during his racing days. Brooklands, with its iconic banked track, was the birth place of motor racing in Britain and houses many displays of old motorcycles, old racing cars, bicycles, buses and aeroplanes. A full on day out was had by all and we agreed that we must have another visit to Brooklands again – maybe make it an event on the National Club Calendar next year…
