Hi all,
Just a quick report about this year’s rally. Several Photos to be used as you see fit – Thanks
Friday the 1st April saw the first arrivals at the Dukes Barn in glorious sunshine – was this to be the start of a great week end? No Snow or Rain as yet even though the weather forecast predicted it!
A steady stream of rally goers through the rest of the afternoon all took their places in the dormitory’s ready for the evening of Chicken Curry / Fried Chicken & Chips (kindly laid on by the catering staff of the Dukes Barn) and a little alcohol to ease us all into a bit of “Normality” and catching up with friends we haven’t seen in a while – unfortunately, Angie and I had a works function that we couldn’t get out of so we had to leave early only to return later (wishing we had stayed at the Dukes).
Saturday saw a refreshed group of bikers ready for the Full English breakfast prepared by the Dukes Barn Catering staff and served up by Stewart and Annie. The bike had a light covering of frost so temperatures were low to start but the weather was kind and soon warmed up.
For the ride out we decided to visit the Castle Barge at Newark – a popular biker meet – a very interesting route through Derbyshire, taking in Bolsover, Edwinstowe and the Green Hut coffee stop at Ollerton Roundabout arriving at the Barge for a quick stop before returning to Dukes Barn passing through Creswell, Clowne, and Dronfield later in the day having completed 111miles round trip. Some beautiful countryside and the ride was well lead by Steward Kinder and Annie. It was good to hear comments by several people about how well the “Drop Off” system worked, so well done to every one of the 14 Bikers who took part.
Sunday saw the Full English breakfast before departures and emotional good buys – (No Snow all weekend and we managed to dodge any rain for a change).
I personally, was so grateful to everyone who came to the rally – even though it was a little hurriedly put together – the success of any rally is in the people who make it and every one of the people who came along, the Three Shires guys n gals and the staff of the Duke’s Barn were superb thanks. We raised £1000 to put to the charity to help maintain the upkeep of the barn.
Looking forward to the coming year –
