Another cracking day out and, surprisingly, the weather mostly behaved. A few spits of rain, but nothing worth worrying about.
Paul led and somehow found an absolute gem of a road after an unmarked right at a Y junction. No idea where it was, but it was one of the best roads I’ve ridden in ages.
The plan was simply Bridlington. Completely by luck, we arrived to find Race the Waves in full swing on the beach. Bikes and vintage cars racing flat out on the sand, with another pair setting off almost as soon as the previous ones crossed the line. Not bad for something we hadn’t actually planned!
We even struck lucky with parking, then Paul went straight from bike to chip shop and somehow came out with a bonus fish. Double fish and chips. Result.
Alan and Mark opted for hot dogs, just as a lady walking past with her dog announced, “My, that’s a big sausage.” Perfect timing. I nearly wet myself laughing.
My phone battery died as we arrived, so hopefully somebody got a photo of the Morris Traveller driving around with a giant clockwork key turning out the back.
And Mark’s comprehensive review of the day?
“Nothing to add. Nice coffee at Hamsterley.”
Great roads, bonus beach racing, double fish and chips and an unexpectedly large sausage. Successful ride-out.
