Today we planned a ride out around Essex.
We meet up at the Rose cafe for breakfast before the ride started. At the breakfast was Bronwen, Bryan, Tim, Paul W, Lynn, a new member Johnny and myself.
Joining us before the ride started was Paul A and Jon.
The weather today was bright and clear.
We got ready for the departure time of 9.45am. Tim wasn’t going to ride with us as he had loads on today and was only there for the breakfast.
We set off along the A414 to Ongar, and then we headed south along the A113 to Passingford Bridge and Abridge. We then headed north along the A1168 to just past Theydon Bois where we cut across to the B1393 through Epping. We then rode through North Weald and onto North Weald Airfield.
Here we found the big red bus was no longer there, this is where you could get drinks and food. We then rode further around the airfield to the Wings cafe. Here we took refreshments and had a good old natter. Whilst there we saw the Essex/Herts Air Ambulance take off.
Time came to set off for Dunmow where we were going to have lunch.
We rode eastwards along the A414 to Ongar where we stopped in the Esso garage for fuel. Here Paul W left us as he had something on to attend to.
After filling up we went north along the AB184 to Leaden Roding. Turning left we went along the A1060 to Hatfield Heath. Here we turn north onto the B183 to Takeley. Here we cut across country to Broxted and picked up the B1051 to Thaxted. We then followed the B184 to Dunmow.
We parked up and walked over to the Paradise Cafe. Here we had our lunch.
The staff here are friendly and the food is good.
After Lunch Jon left us and rode home along. He too had something he had to deal with.
The rest of us then made our way to Braintree along the B1256. Here we had our last drink of the day at the Toby Carvery.
We said our goodbyes here and went our separate ways for home.
That was another great day out with great company on good roads.
On the plus side it didn’t rain or snow.
Until the next ride, be safe.
