Manhoc ride to The Chequered Flag Cafe, 13th September 2026, just south of Ashbourne. Starting from Poplar at the earlier time of 10am, the weather could not have been better for motorbiking – dry, sunny & clear with a cool light wind, on some great clear roads in glorious, stunning countryside. There were 8 bike riders and one special pillion, Peter’s grandson. He was in full biking gear doing his first long ride, and he was proud to show us that he also had a retractable dark visor in his new helmet! We mounted our bikes and headed south to Knutsford and Holmes Chapel. From there we were on new, exciting country back roads to Leek, and then again new back roads to Ashbourne to conclude at the race track and its Chequered Flag café for lunch and special awards (see photos). Return, following a stop at a “second hand bike clothing shop”, was north with mid coffee stop at The Ryles Arms. We were again treated to further back roads until Macclesfield and then on to our usual return to Knutsford with final coffees, cakes and hugs at Pops. Today, we found and experimented on new great back roads. Quite a challenge, well done and thanks to our Shepherd for keeping us on route, and definitely appreciated and enjoyed by all.
