Essex Branch Last Ride of 2019 to Clacton.

Sunday 29th December 2019

Today there were five of us on the last club ride out of 2019.

Four of us met at Rose’s Cafe, Chelmsford, Mike W, Mike T, Gabe and myself.

Jim met us at our morning coffee stop.

The weather today started off a bit overcast, but was dry. The day got brighter as the day went on.

4 of us left Rose’s cafe and headed off via Writtle, Leaden Roding, Great Dunmow, Finchingfield, Wethersfield to the Corner Cafe in Sible Hedingham. Jim was waiting for us outside the cafe.

We popped inside the cafe and had a welcome drink and a natter.

We then left the cafe and rode via Halstead, Colchester ring road (A12), Great Bentley, St Oysth, Jaywick and into Clacton.

We parked up on the front close to the pier.

A lot of the eating houses were still closed for the festive period, so we took ourselves into Weatherspoons and had lunch.

The service in there was quite quick considering all the tables were full.

Time came to head off for home. We couldn’t leave without having a picture taken with the pier behind us.

The route home took us towards and through Colchester, which was quite at this time of year. We then headed towards Tiptree and Maldon.

At Malden we said our goodbyes to each other and left Malden on 2 separate routes, with people peeling off where necessary.

It was a great ride out today, the last for the club for 2019.

Good weather, roads and great company.

Until next year, 2020, ride safe.

Happy New Year to you all.

Roland.

Branch Secretary, EHOC.
