Hello Everyone
North London visit the Borders Ten of us have recently completed a great week in Scotland, 8-15th June, organised by Steve Jones and staying near Dumfries.
Eight in a nice Airbnb at Crocketford and two in a bed and breakfast at Castle Douglas. There is a lovely Pub in Crocketford where most of us had our evening meals and drinks.
Steve led the way up here on Saturday where we detoured for a stop at Hawes where lots of bikers were meeting to go to the Dave Myers memorial ride. A long but nice day.
On Sunday Steve took us on some fine coast roads in the direction of Stranraer, with nice coastal views. On Monday Martin took us on a long ride past Loch Lomond and on to Glencoe with a return via Oban, a great day indeed.
On Tuesday I took us across towards Hawick, Carter Bar and a ride near Hadrians Wall, with a visit to a Buddhist Monastery in Eskdalemuir. Very spiritual!
On Wednesday Steve Jones took us into the Lake District where we principally tackled the difficult Hardknott Pass. Thursday saw a change from the fairly good weather we have been having and we did our own thing really.
Some of the guys were a bit tired and lounged around in the accommodation while others did short rides. Dave and Bill decided to go home to avoid the wetter weather.
On Friday three of the team moved on while the rest left late on a short ride to Ayr. The roads were nice but the weather turned wet, but we found a nice café on the seafront.
Richard had a puncture which was repaired successfully. The Saturday coming home was wet and I think we were all glad to have a rest from the bikes.
Thanks go to Gary for cooking us some great breakfasts.
Thank you Steve for organising…
