First Fen Rally Friday 5th – Sunday 7 th September

Well I’m not too sure what to say about our First Fen Rally that has not already been said, other than, it was brilliant! Thanks to everyone that came on the rally, those that helped to set up the marquee, cooked the food, made the cakes, provided the music, the visitors who joined us from East Midlands and our group, and those that came on the bimble around Norfolk.
We were blessed with brilliant weather all weekend. The rally field was ideal with electrical points for those who wanted them. Drinks and wonderful cakes supplied by our resident baker Jennie (likely to be on a certain bakery programme soon!) provided a welcome arrival for our guests some of whom had travelled a long way.
After the dozen units and around 20 people settled in it was off to the barn in the evening for some excellent food. The rest of the party joined us afterwards with music provided by our resident DJ Philip. An interlude for a couple of fiendish quizzes won by our Master Baker come Quiz Master.
We were joined on Saturday morning by another two Cambs and Lincs members for a bimble around Norfolk. Sandringham estate was the first port of call to look at the stables and the King’s gates. Then onto Sunny Hunny for a well deserved drink and nosh.
We headed back to find a contingent from the East Midlands branch and a further couple from our group. Time for a couple of games firstly with lawn darts but the wind was the excuse for the fairly low scores. It was tense with a play off between Marcus the HOC Chairman and one of our guys, of course, we had to let the Chairman win!
Next game was the ski race with only two pairs brave enough (or daft enough!) to try. Slow and steady was the tactics with Roger and Tracy winning in style while Graham and Roger failing with style.
Saturday evening was spent outside with a lovely two course meal provided by my wife. With nourishment devoured it was time for a couple of quizzes by torchlight naturally won by the Quiz Master again. A bit easier this time with games the theme that I think we all remember.
Sunday morning and bacon butties were on offer with everyone getting together for a final drink and distribution of prizes. Before long it was time to pack everything away and sadly part our separate ways.
There are too many people to thank but from the feedback comments everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we look forward to seeing everyone next year for our second Fen Rally.
