Essex Branch Soggy Ride to Parrish’s

Last Tuesday Jeff and I went for a ride over to Thaxted for a coffee. The ride was mainly in the dry. We rode from Chelmsford through Felsted, Gt Dunmow, Finchingfield to Thaxted. We stopped at Parrishes for our coffee. We decided to sit outside under the awning and have our coffee and cake there. No sooner had we put our helmets and jackets down on the chairs that the heavens opened up big time. That was great timing. By the time we finished out drinks and cake the storm had passed. We then set off for a little cafe that Jeff knew by Norton Heath. We rode via Gt Dunmow, Leaden Roding, Ongar to the cafe. It’s a great little cafe. Here we had lunch. I had a nice sausage and egg sandwich. Yummy. Time came to set off for home. Some nasty looking clouds were building up. Jeff must have rode into the rain as he had it most of the way home. I on the other hand must have been riding away from the clouds as I didn’t get any rain at all. Another great day riding in good company. I completed 103.3 miles door to door. Until the next time, ride safe.

Roland.
