Essex Branch get Down at Dunstable

Today our ride out was to Dunstable Downs for a picnic lunch. We met up at the Rose Cafe in Chelmsford for a 10am departure. There were five bikes on the run today, Mick W, Ashley, Andreas, Mike B and myself. Mike B had ridden down from Duxford Village to join us today. To see us off from the cafe was Chris & Chloe, also Paul Wilson who is a member of our Branch and this was his first time meeting us. Unfortunately all 3 couldn’t make today’s run.We set off along the A414 through Harlow to the BP garage at the junction of the A414 and the A10. Here we took a comfort break and took some fuel.We set off again along the A414 through Hatfield, St Albans and Redbourn to Dunstable Downs. The Downs was quite busy with other bikers and families enjoying the brilliant weather. We found a space on the grass away from everyone else and sat ourselves down to have our picnic. We also had a good old natter. After lunch we set off for Baldock for another comfort break. This time we followed the A505 to Baldock. After our break we set off for home taking in the Baldock to Buntingford bends. Nice road the A507.We each peeled off on the route home.Another great day out with good friends and on great roads.Well done everyone.Until the next ride, stay safe.Roland Murphy.Essex HOC Branch Secretary.
