Today we had a ride out to Mildenhall, Walkers Snack Bar for lunch. We met up at the Rose Cafe, Chelmsford, for a 9.30am departure. The weather today started off overcast, but as the morning went on the skies cleared and we had great weather. There were 13 bikes starting the run, which we split into 3 bubbles for the day. On the ride were Jim, Ashley, Jeff, Geoff, Emma, Lance, Mike B, Mick P, Mike T, Jon, Mark and myself. Mark is a friend of two of our members and he was test riding us today. We set off for Finchingfield going via Ongar, Leaden Roding, Great Dunmow, and Thaxted to Finchingfield. On route to Finchingfield Jeff left us. At Finchingfield we met up with Mick P.It wasn’t too busy at Finchingfield, but we still had to queue to get a coffee at the Winners Tea Room.Whilst having our drink we met another rider, Andy, who showed an interest in joining the HOC. He rode with us to our next stop Walkers Snack Bar.We departed Finchingfield and headed to Mildenhall, Walkers Snack Bar, going via Steeple Bumpstead, Haverhill and Newmarket to Mildenhall. We continued our journey to Mildenhall, one man down, for our lunch stop.Walkers Snack Bar was quite busy with bikers. As if by magic as we ordered our food and drink a load of the riders there started to leave. Must be something we said.Andy left us after lunch and continued with his own journey for the day. After lunch we set off for the Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds. We rode via Lakenheath, Brandon, Mundford and Thetford to the Krazy Horse. When we got to the Horse we found it closed due to Covid19. Plan B kicked in and so we rode on to the Corner Cafe in Sible Hedingham. The ride there took us via Sudbury and Castle Hedingham. At the Corner Cafe we had our last drink of the day and a good old natter before we set off for home.People peeled off, on the route for home, where necessary. All in all it was a great days riding in good company on great roads.Even Mark enjoyed our company today, so much so he wants to join us again soon.We didn’t have any rain today, which was a bonus.Door to door today I rode 202.3 miles.Well done everyone.Until the next time ride safe.
