Cambs&Lincs 11 -13 September 2026 Rally Report

Thanks to everyone that came to the Second Cambs and Lincs Fen Rally. We had an excellent turn-out of 13 units with a mixture of motorhomes, caravans and tents. The ralliers came from all four points of the compass and different distances. The shortest being 14 miles and the furthest 180 miles!

The fen roads are in a terrible state and the road to the site was sadly no different. The site proved to be an excellent choice being flat and spacious with showers and toilets and very friendly owners. Anyway, once everyone was pitched up and the Honda gazebo supplied by Marcus was erected it was time for a brew and cakes. Well done to Jennie for her lovely cupcakes which kept the sugar level up throughout the week-end.

Once all the units were on-site orders were taken for the fish, chips and peas and I was duly despatched to do the run to the local chip shop and very nice they were too. Afterwards it was time for a couple of quizzes one being British TV theme tunes and the other titles of Christmas songs (well its only around 100 days to Christmas!). Tracey and her team won both quizzes and took the grand quiz master title off Jennie who had a clean sweep last year. Music and spectacular light show was provided by Philip Wadlow and after the quizzes it was time for a good natter before people went back to their respective accommodation.

Bacon sarnies were on offer in the morning before the scheduled ride-out led by Philip on one of our favourite routes around the North Norfolk coast stopping at a couple of cafes and an ice-cream at Hunstanton. By the time the posse of motorbikes got back from the ride-out the weather had turned rainy so sadly the planned games had to be cancelled.

The Saturday evening chicken dinner was prepared by my wife Christine and ably assisted by our super assistant Marshalls Roger and Tracey. Duly consumed it was time for another couple of quizzes based on famous movie quotes and animal bottoms! Tracey’s team again won the first quiz but Jennie not to be outshone took the second one (she really knows animal bottoms!).

Unfortunately the weather turned nasty with quite heavy rain so we all crammed into the gazebo which made it quite cosy. With the music again supplied by our resident DJ and drinks consumed the natter continued until late.

Sunday morning and again bacon sarnies were duly consumed. Heavy rain curtailed the proposed coffee morning get-together as people were keen to get off to return home although the competition prizes were distributed to the respective winners.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and would just like to take the opportunity on behalf of Cambs and Lincs group to thank everyone who contributed to the event and hope for many more in the future.
Regards
Paul Milward, HOC Cambs and Lincs Branch Secretary
