West London head to Darkest West Kent

The International West Kent Run weekend finally celebrated its 36th anniversary after two years of covid.

The weekend is organised by the West Section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club and held within the grounds of The Friars, Aylesford.

On the Saturday there is an organised run of 370 international bikes around the Kent countryside.

The course is excellently marked out with coffee and lunch stops in the 100-mile run.

Whilst on the Sunday there is an auto-jumble, gymkhana and many motorcycling clubs displaying vintage machines.

I rode my 1971 Honda CB500 4 and my son Tom rode my 1977 Honda CB400T.

We have been attending for a number of years and thought it would make an excellent place for a club run.

Jon Stone and Jude Browne arrived as the advanced party whilst Steve Cribbins led a group from Ockham bits through the South East countryside on a very warm day and John Flynn led a group from Earlswood Common.

Once everybody had spent time inspecting the fine array of vintage motorcycles, enjoying the gymkhana or adding to their number of bikes.

The group retired to the campsite for a well-earned rest and BBQ.

Thanks to Steve C for the supply of meat.
