Long Time Mod and Rocker Gordon gets a Dream Day

Event Info

Motorcycling can be a solitary experience.

Maybe that’s the reason why we love to get together and organise a group ride, where we can share the experience and chat over a cup of tea and a bacon bap.

Generally if you include an event within the Rideout participation increases.

If the ride is in support of a good cause then it’ll prove extremely popular. Stage this on a decent day’s weather and it’ll be totally over subscribed.

This is exactly what happened on Saturday the 3rd of October 2026.

Jessica Richardson who is a lifestyle manager at the Meadowcroft Care Home in Garstang, Lancashire had a resident with dementia by the name of Gordon whose wish was to spend one more day surrounded by bikers.

Jessica put a call out to a local motorcycling group a couple of months ago and it just snowballed.

As well as lots of Facebook shares, Jessica was able to promote the event on Radio Lancashire when she was interviewed by Graham Liver on his very popular breakfast show.

We were only too pleased to be there, and it was quite emotional to see Gordon wipe away tears whilst surrounded by scooters and motorcycles. I stood in amazement as the car park filled with up to 4 bikes to every car park space and the pavement outside was filling up rapidly too.

As well as our own Hondas there was a beautiful 1972 CB200 and two Goldwing’s, one of which Gordon climbed aboard the rear seat and was cheered off by the large crowd as he was given a ride around town.

The event has certainly captured a lot of attention and was even covered on TV BBC northwest news.

Wishing Gordon best wishes.
