Essex, North London & Kent Branches Joint Ride to Clacton

We had a great first ride out of the year today.

We had Kent and North London branches of the HOC join us, Essex, today. We went to Clacton for fish & chips.

We met up with the Kent members at Thurrock Services. After a brief chat we set off for a ride via Grays, Halfway House A127, Brentwood, (passing the secret Nuclear Bunker), Ongar and along the A414 to the Roses Cafe in Chelmsford.

Here we met the North London members. Another quick chat ensued before we saddled up and set off for Clacton.

They were 17 of us now, so quite a group of bikers heading for Clacton.

The weather started off overcast and as we got near to Colchester it then turned to drizzle for a while.

The route to Clacton took in Danbury, Maldon, Abberton Reservoir, Colchester, Brightlingsea, St Osyth, Jaywick and then into Clacton.

We parked up on the sea front and went into a fish & chip shop just across the road from the pier.

Here we had lovely fresh fish and chips.

After lunch we had a photo taken with the pier behind us.

As time was ticking on we set off for home. We took the quicker route home, straight down the A12. People peeled off for home on route.

Today we had good roads, good food and great company.

Here’s to the next joint ride.
