Essex & Kent Branch Ride to Aldeburgh

Sunday 12th July 2020.
Yesterday’s ride was to Aldeburgh. We met up today at McDonalds at the Boreham Services, Chelmsford. There were 18 members and a guest rider at the meet point, but only 16 on the ride today. Within those 16 were 3 from the Kent Branch, Mike, Les and Bill. We arranged ourselves into groups before setting off at 9:30am. We rode via the following locations to get to Aldeburgh; Hatfield Peveral, Maldon, Colchester to Ardleigh. Just north of Ardleigh we stopped at the Craft Nurseries garden centre cafe for a drink and cake. This is a nice place to stop for a drink. We continued our journey via Manningtree, A14, A12, Woodbridge, Tunstall, Snape and into Aldeburgh. We parked up and found a spot on the grass by the prom. Some of us bought a picnic lunch with us whilst others went to the fish and chip shop or other eateries. It was quite busy at Aldeburgh today, not surprising as the sun was out and it was quite warm. Here are a few pictures of the main area where we had our lunch. And some of the beach. Time came for the return journey home. We retraced our journey back to Tunstall where we then went via Wickham Market, Ashbocking, Needham Market to Sudbury. Here we had a brief stop at McDonalds before carrying on home via Halstead, Braintree and Chelmsford. After Sudbury people peeled off for home where necessary .It was a good day for a ride. The weather couldn’t be any better for us. The roads were great and of course we were in great company. Thanks to the 3 guys from the Kent Branch for joining us. Mileage wise today I did 202.2 miles door to door and Mike from Kent did 240 miles. Les, who lives on the south coast, did 340 miles. A great day out, well done everyone. Until the next ride, be safe.
