RIDE OUT TO Clacton On Sea. Sunday 14th January 2024.

There were 6 of us having breakfast this morning at the Rose Cafe, Mike W, Mick T, Bob, Rob, Tony and myself. Bob, Rob and Tony were joining us for the first time today.

Marissa and Ed joined us after breakfast.

Unfortunately Mike W couldn’t ride with us today as he was on call for work.

The weather this morning was clearing and a bit chilly.

As the day went on the sky got brighter.

We set off at 9.45am for the ride to Clacton. We rode via Danbury and Malden, stopping at Abberton Reservoir for a quick look at the wild fowl there, which I think had all gone on holiday. Can’t blame them as it was a tad chilly.

We continued our journey to Clacton via Colchester, Brightlingsea and Jaywick.

Arriving at Clacton we parked up along the sea front and headed for the fish and chip shop that wenormally frequent, only to find it was shut.

Plan B, we used the chippy just inside the pier.

Here we had a small lunch, most of us were going home to a Sunday roasts.

Here we had a good chat over lunch.

Time came for the return journey.

We were going to head back to Malden via Brightlingsea, Colchester and Tiptree.

At Malden we stopped at Costa Coffee for afternoon refreshment and a warm up.

Following this we set off for home via North Fambridge, South Woodham Ferrers, Wickford and the A120/A127.

Peopled peeled off where necessary for home.

It was a great day out on good roads and in great company.

Today I did 132 miles door to door.

Until the next ride, stay safe.
