Wiltshire, Oxford and Reading inter branch go karting

321 Go Wiltshire:

On Sunday 23rd March was the 3rd instalment of the Oxford, Reading and Wiltshire social events and this instalment was Karting which was organised by Andrew Young of the Wiltshire Branch.

14 competitors donned race suits and helmets and had the obligatory safety briefs and then had ten minutes of qualifying where Rob Grist, Sean Emery and Andrew Young of Wiltshire made up the front row of the grid for the main 20 lap race.

The spectators however had their very own challenge of working out how to get coffee and snacks from the very complicated and temperamental vending machines but Erica came to our rescue and we were fed and watered ready to watch the race.

The main race was had and the positions of the front 3 remained throughout and it was a Wiltshire 123, in third place was Andrew Young, in second place was Sean Emery and first place by 0.05 of a second was Rob Grist. Well done to all competitors and by the looks of the big smiles I think everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and a big shout out to Michelle Rae our only female and very inexperienced karter who finished in a very respectable 7th position.

After the photographs and trophy presentation we said goodbye and headed off in our various directions home with the weather closing in, most were in cars however unfortunately for the brave souls who motorcycled a wet and windy journey was had.

Thank you to Andrew Young for organising and we all look forward to many more inter branch events.

Kind regards

Andrew young
