Dave J & Andrew Y riding from Tidworth & Ludgershall, Wiltshire, East along the A303 then North up the A34; arriving 75 miles & 1 hour & 45 minutes later at Oxford HOC’s rally at The Gate Hangs High Inn, Hook, Norton, OX15 5DF.
Initially, it was a case of saying a few quick ‘hellos’ before receiving a short, ride out brief given by Oxford’s Mark Clargo to all riders. 🏍️
Mark, with wife Tracey riding pillion then led the way.
So, with 22 bikes, 6 carrying pillions including Andrew with Erica & a sidecar at the back acting as rear marker, the Poker run ride out began!
With all riders returning to site without incident at 5 PM, it was time to recognise Mark C & Ted G’s organisation skills of the superb 85 mile route with 4 ☕️ / ice cream 🍨/
playing card / comfort break stops & with £320 raised for the paediatric unit at Southampton Hospital, an extra well done should go to Erica G for sorting the prizes kindly donated by Mutual Clothing, Infinity Berrinsfield and various others to the eventual, 7 lucky Poker run winners.
So, it’s fair to say that we thoroughly enjoyed Erica & her team’s hospitality while riding our bikes on a warm & sunny 🌞 day but it was soon time to leave Oxford HOC to their BBQ & head for home.
Another great day was had catching up with old friends & meeting a few new ones.
We’re already looking forward to the next ride out & rally. Bring on the National in September..! 🏍️🤓
