Platinum Burgers at The Iron Bull. On Thursday 2nd June.
West London Branch made the most of the Platinum Bank Holiday sun with an early evening run to the Iron Bull Roadhouse near Basingstoke.
For a change we met at the Hogsback Cafe and had a nice tight run – a mixture of empty A31 and even emptier country roads from Alton up through Odiham to Phoenix Green.
The older A roads, often reclassified to B road status, make for some great riding. Six from West London were joined by some of Classic Secretary Steve Cribbin’s relatives on holiday from S. Africa. Steve and the S.A contingent all came on two (borrowed) wheels.
Well done to them – they had a long day out via The Ace Cafe and Brighton. Our numbers were swelled to twelve, by Honorary member of the HOC, Jamie Watson (who you may know better as the lead guitarist of The Riverkites Band) who joined us with his friend ‘Ginger Dan’ – not to be confused with our Branch Sec Dan Walton.
Dan’s Pan exhaust ended the day considerably louder than when he started off – ‘thought I had a Harley following me’ quipped Dan.
As we basked in the evening sun after our burgers etc, we enjoyed a wonderfully eclectic mix of Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Harley, Buell and Triumph on display together with many different shapes and sizes of rather large Victory motorcycles.
It doesn’t really matter what bike you’ve got – as long as you’ve got a bike!
