South Wales Branch Tower above all Others

A really great ride out today. 8 of us, Peter from Bristol, Brian, Geoffory, Stuart, Terry, Steven, Lloyd and me (whoever that is). Met up as planned and more or less on time. Nice but unexciting run to Chepstow. Crossed over the old Severn Bridge on what I am reliably informed is not the M4 (my road atlas still calls it the M4 and doesn’t have the new crossing in the book. Maybe time to get a new atlas?). Met up with Pete and headed for AV8. Some nice roads to get there. It was a bit busy but we found a table and some tea and cake.
After a good chinwag we headed for Broadway Tower. I haven’t been there for years and most of the group had never been there. After taking in the views it was down to the preserved railway at Toddington and a visit to the cafe as people were hungry.
Home via Tewkesbury and Ledbury. Down the A449 to Symonds Yat where we turned toward Hereford. At St Owen’s Cross we turned left for Skenfrith and Abergavenny.
A cracking day for it made better for having great riding companions and even better roads. I managed 203 miles.
