Rear Brake Connecting Rod End – CBR600RR-3/RR-4
In pursuit of total quality and customer satisfaction, Honda Motor Co Ltd is constantly evaluating the durability of its products in the market. In doing so, they have become aware of a potential safety related concern with the rear brake master cylinder connecting rod end.
The concern is with the specification of the material used for the rear brake master cylinder connecting rod end. Progressive corrosion within the connecting rod end may cause it to fracture when pressure is applied to the rear brake pedal. This could result in an ineffective rear brake.
Please note:
The front brake is not affected by this issue and its’ performance is not compromised.
Although only a very small number of cases have been reported, Honda Motor Co Ltd have announced a Safety Recall Campaign on all potentially affected machines in an effort to maintain total customer confidence and riding pleasure.
We are therefore contacting all owners of potentially affected machines, instructing them to return their machine to their local authorised Honda dealer to have a counter measure applied to prevent any possible occurrence.
If your machine has been converted for competition use and still uses the original rear brake connecting rod end, this recall notice still applies to your machine. Therefore we suggest you contact your local authorised Honda dealer to have the counter measure applied to prevent any possible occurrence.
The repair work required should take no more than 1 hour to complete and will of course be carried out free of charge. However, your dealer may require your machine for a longer period to allow for workshop scheduling.
If you require details regarding your local authorised Honda dealer, please contact the Honda Contact Centre on 0845 200 8000.
