North London visit Welshpool.

Hello Everyone,

On the bank holiday weekend 24-27th May our branch went to Welshpool for our hotly anticipated visit to one of the best biking areas in the country, weather permitting of course.

Dave Taylor had organised the trip and we stayed at the highly recommended Twyllwyn farm near Welshpool where we were looked after superbly by our hosts Jane and David.

A lovely, bike friendly place with plenty of accommodation.

Dave led us there on the Friday on a nice route taking in the A44, lunch near Leominster at Brinksty’s cafe and then up to Welshpool. He took us into the Snowden area on Saturday on some great roads taking in Bala, Betwys y Coed and Beddgelert.

On the Sunday I took us down to the Elan Valley and Devils Bridge via the marvellous A483 and we found a superb road across the mountain from Machynlleth to Llanidloes on our way back.

This was the only day we had a bit of rain, though not much, enough to keep the roads damp. I led us home on the Monday going south east to Ledbury and to the A40.

On the way home one of our crew needed to call for breakdown as his back tyre was running on the threads, literarily! He did not have to wait too long though. A super weekend involving 13 bikes and 17 people.

We are going again next year. Thank you David.

Regards

Steve
