May 2-5th Dave Taylor regularly organises our fine annual trip to Welshpool in Powys and this year it was as great as usual and we were blessed by not having any rain. It did get a bit cold the last few days though. Fourteen of us were involved and we stayed at the highly recommended Tynllwyn Farm Just outside Welshpool at SY219BW. Dave led us down there on the Friday via Evesham and Worcester and it was after Worcester that the roads became markedly more pleasant and bendy. We stopped for lunch at the nice Brinkstys on the A44 before Leominster. On the Saturday I led a superb ride taking in Devils Bridge, the Elan Valley and around Llyn Brianne. Beautiful country with lunch at the Owls Nest, Llandovery, which some of you may remember from the Rally. On Sunday Dave led another great ride taking in Barmouth, Harlech and coming home over the great road past Bala. I led us home via the superb A483 from Newtown and through Hereford, Ludlow and Gloucester before a final lunch stop in the square at Northleach. It was a great weekend and we will go again next year. The Cornstore in the middle of Welshpool does brilliant food, plenty of it too…
We met a couple of Reading Branch guys at the Royal Oak hotel bar as well. Fabulous.
Regards Steve
