North London Branch try to Dodge the Rain

Hello Everyone,

North London squad risk the rain

On 7th July four of us took an optimistic view of the weather forecast and took a country route from Epping to Burnham on Crouch.

It was still quite early and we decided to keep on riding from there, without a stop, to take advantage of the lovely weather we had had so far.

A nice little ride around the promontory with a diversion caused by roadworks took us to Heybridge Basin for lunch at a fine café near an Asda.

We had had two hours of fine weather and roads so far.

While we were having a nice lunch it started to spit with rain but we got away with another reasonable hour of weather before we got caught in a very heavy downpour near at Halstead.

We decided to forego an afternoon stop and we headed directly for home from there, it continuing to rain but the sun came out when I got home! A lovely day apart from the last hour or so.

Regards

Steve
