Hi every one, been a long time in writing in the HOC magazine, I have just returned from a long lay-off from being member of HOC and re-joined late last year and meeting up with old acquaintances and started to have ride outs, I recently had a Honda Blackbird.
Anyway I took the plunge and got rid of the Blackbird and got a new bike, a GXS 1250 Suzuki with all the bells and whistles. Now I know what you are thinking why am I owning a Suzuki and being a member of Honda Owners Club, reason is, I am the member not the Bike, and I have met some great people from the club and over the years ( between 1997 to 2008 ) including my old friends and members Peter Steen and Steve Robinson, Irrespective of which mark of Motorcycle we ride, we enjoy each and everyone’s company.
We had a meeting in mid June, when Peter fed us with coffee and bacon sandwiches, while sitting at social distance.
Steve and I made arrangements to meet up on August Bank holiday at 11:00 ish, at Devils Bridge in Kirkby Lonsdale. The weather was sunny and dry, for a change this summer, and after Steve demolished a Bacon butty and a cup of soup, I only had a bottle of water, as I had my breakfast before I left home. We set off to Hawes going through Ingleton, and then onto Leyburn in Yorkshire.
Bikers were taking advantage of the great weather and plenty of nodding commenced which after a bit began to wear thin and my neck started to ache, so a stop just before Leyburn at a Cafe called Berry’s which was a great relief. Steve had Mochaccino, and I had a Cappuccino both of us had 2 Tea Cakes with Jam, taking full advantage of the Government’s half price meals.
After refreshments, we decided to go onto Sedbergh for a toilet break and a chat. We are starting to make plans for further ride outs before the dreaded Winter weather starts, and we put our Bikes to bed. As this Pandemic has put paid to Rallies and local lock-downs, but we are hoping to go to Rallies in 2021.
Stay Safe and shiny side up.
