Welsh NTV650 tour in the heatwave!
Solent member Jim Dredge, toured South Wales and the Cairngorms, enjoying the wonderful winding roads through numerous mountain passes.
The three day trip of 700 miles was undertaken in Mid-July, on the days when both Wales and England set all time record temperatures, it was hot work!
The trip was another chance for Jim’s trusty NTV650 to prove that a 29 year old bike can still reliably tour in all sorts of conditions.
One highlight of the trip was crossing the “Hellfire Pass” at 1,778 ft, before dropping down to cool off on the shores of Lake Vyrnwy.
The attached photo shows the Honda resting after the traverse.
Accompanying Jim, was Barry, who rides a BMW S1000RR.
We saw lots of bikes during the trip, but none were older than the NTV.
We stayed at the Cain Valley Hotel in Llanfyllin, which is a Victorian Hotel that has period charm and makes significant efforts to welcome bikers, offering use of their garage overnight, so both rider and bike get a room! The food and drink were good too.
Thanks. Jim
