Gloucester Ride 30th June

Sunday, 30th June, marked a significant turnout for the Gloucester HOC group ride, with 10 members arriving for our planned journey north to Leominster for breakfast at The Watering Hole in Aymestrey.

For late June, the weather was unseasonably chilly – bordering on the paradoxical for this time of year in Britain. Nonetheless, the absence of rain was a small mercy.

Keith, ever the stalwart, was in top form, leading the pack with his customary aplomb. Chris, our newly minted ROSPA-accredited expert, assumed the role of tail-end Charlie with commendable diligence, ensuring no one was left adrift. The ride, while enjoyable, presented the perennial challenge of maintaining cohesion among the ranks, made even more difficult by the erratic behaviour of motorists seemingly unacquainted with the concept of orderly travel.

Breakfast at The Watering Hole was nothing short of delightful – both delicious and remarkably affordable, a rare combination in today’s world.

It was particularly pleasing to welcome Rob, Graham, Darren, and Danielle into our fold; their presence enriched the experience immeasurably. We eagerly anticipate their participation in many more future outings.

After breakfast, we sought to inject a touch of the extraordinary into our day with a visit to Shobdon Airfield. There, we indulged in another round of tea and cake – indulgences that seemed wholly appropriate in the context of our outing.

The return trip was in good time for the start of the football.

Until next time, ride safely and see you on the next adventure.

Cheers.

Jimmy
