Sunday 16th August 2020.
We met up at the Rose Cafe, Chelmsford, for a 9.30am departure. The ride today started with overcast skies. We set off riding via Writtle, Broomfield, Felstead, Bishops Stortford, and Buntingford to Baldock for our coffee stop. Following our stop here we set off again going via Henlow to the Shuttleworth Collection. Upon arrival we parked up the bikes and walked off to have a look around. Some of us decided to have our lunch first before looking around. There are 6 hangers and a Swiss Garden to look around here. I didn’t get a chance to look around the gardens, but I know that Ashley and Emma did. The hangers are full of aircraft and vehicles of all sorts. They also had some of the vehicles driving back and forth in front of the hangers. After having looked around the hangers we decided to have a final drink before setting off for home and lucky we did. Out of nowhere the heavens opened up and boy did they. During the hour waiting for the rain to stop we heard of and saw one of the hangers had a rather large leak in it’s roof. Staff there closed the hanger off and got the mops and buckets out. Eventually the rain almost stopped which allowed us to get our wet gear on and start the journey home. We stopped at the garage at Baldock Service and then set off for the journey home. Another great day out on good roads and in great company. I completed 173.9 miles, door to door, today. Until next week’s ride, stay safe.
