Essex Branch Soggy Ride Round Essex

We met up at the Rose Cafe to depart at 9.30am.

It was a wet day today, but the rain wasn’t as bad as it was during the night.

There was 4 of us on the ride today for a paddle, I mean ride around Essexshire. There was Mike W, Jon, Tim and myself.

We didn’t stick with the planned ride today due to the rain, instead we headed off for Thaxted going via Writtle, Leaden Roding and Dunmow. We stopped and had coffee at Parrishes. Over coffee we had a good old natter.

Time came to set off again, but before we set off I couldn’t resist a quick photo of the gang there.

Off we went to out next stop for lunch.  We decided to head to The Ship, our new Branch meeting point. We thought we would try it out for lunch.

We went via Finchingfield, Dunmow, Felsted, North End, the Easters and Chelmsford to The Ship.

We couldn’t get into The Ship as they were fully booked up, lesson here, book up in future. But, we could sit outback in the covered area. We didn’t mind this as we were togged up already for wet riding.

Again we had a good old natter over lunch.

Once lunch was over we decided to call it a day and to head for home.

During the day we did come across a few large puddles on some roads which caused us to cross over the over side of the road. On one road there was also a tree down on our side of the road blocking our side, again we were able to go around it.

All in all it was a good day’s riding, albeit in the rain. We didn’t let it dampen our spirits.

Until the next ride, stay safe.

Roland.   Essex Branch Secretary.
