Sunday 24th November 2019.
There were 4 of us on the ride today, Mike, Gabe, Alex and myself. We met up at McDonalds, Boreham Services, Chelmsford.
The ride today was to Wally’s Shed going via Finchingfield.
The weather forecast for today was for overcast skies and some fog.
We set off for Finchingfield via Felsted, Great Dunmow, Thaxted and Great Sampford.
We parked up and had a drink in the “Winners” Tea Room.
We sat outside drinking and chatting. We then noticed some activity down in the pond. We asked a local walking past what the activity was. We were told that they were putting up the Christmas tree in the pond, on an island.
We sat there watching them put the tree upright using ladders and ropes. We did wonder if the tree would end up in the pond, but it didn’t. They have obviously done this a few times.
Time came to head off to Wally’s Shed. We set off via Steeple Bumpstead, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds and Acton.
As we past Haverhill and was heading up the A143 we suddenly found that the A143 was closed. The road closed sign was placed on the side of the road 400 yards before the closure.
We turned around back to Haverhill and had a change of mind of where to go for lunch.
We headed off along the A1017 to Sible Hedingham and the “Corner Cafe”.
We had another good old natter over Lunch.
Time came to depart and head off for home.
On route we peeled off where necessary.
Another good ride with great company.
What was a bonus for this time of year was that it didn’t rain and the temperature was mild.
Until the next ride, ride safe,
Roland Murphy, Branch Secretary EHOC.
