Sunday 2nd August 2020.
We met up at the Rose Cafe, Chelmsford, for a 9:30am departure.
We set off along country lanes via Blackmore, Doddinghurst, Coxtie Green, Havering Atte Bower, Passingford Bridge, and Ongar to North Weald Airfield.
Here we were going to have our morning Coffee at the Wings Cafe.
Unfortunately the queue was very slow moving, in fact I think Air Traffic Control were on strike.
We took the decision to go back around the airfield perimeter road to a double decker bus which was selling hot food and drink. We got off our bikes here and got served straight away and managed to get a few picnic tables as well.
We then set off again for our lunch stop in Thaxted. We went via Ongar, Leaden Roding, and Great Dunmow to Thaxted.
Here we went to Parrishes for our lunch. Great food and good staff here.
Thaxted is a lovely town which you could quite easy spend a few hours walking around.
We then set off for our afternoon coffee stop in Braintree. We rode via Finchingfield, Weathersfield, Sible Hedingham, Halstead, and Bocking to Braintree. We had a drink in the Toby Carvery here.
We then said our goodbyes here as people would be peeling off along the route for home.
Ashley was our Tail End Charlie today, this is the first time she has had this position and she did really well. Well done Ashley.
Today we completed 146.1 miles on today’s run.
