Essex & Kent Branches Battle it out in 1066

Today we had a great day out being shown around Kent by the Kent branch.

We met up at Thurrock Services for a 9.30am departure.

We set off across the Dartford Crossing and met up with some of the Kent guys at the McDonalds/Garage just across the River at junction 1b.

After a quick chat Mike led us along some lovely country roads to Maidstone Services where we met the other members of the Kent Branch.

Mike O then led us along some more lovely roads to Bewl Water where we were going to have our lunch. Upon reaching Bewl Water we found out that they wanted to charge us £5 to park each motorbike, they would have meant that they would make £40 whilst we had lunch. We weren’t having any of that and so we moved onto the 1066 Cafe for lunch.

The 1066 Cafe is used by a lot by bikers; you will always find various bikes in the car park.

The staff and food at the 1066 Cafe are great.

Marian took a sneaky photo of me laying back on one of the picnic tables in the Cafe’s garden. Cheers Marian.

Time came for the return journey.

We set off again along more great country roads back to the Maidstone Services for more coffee.

Time came for the final journey home were people peeled off where necessary for home.

I made it home just before the rain came in.

Another great day riding on good roads and in great company.

I rode 184.3 miles door to door today, every mile enjoyable.

Until the next ride out, ride safe.
