Essex Branch and the local branches get together for a Ride to Rye.

Today I had arranged a ride out to Rye where we would have fish & chips.

I invited Kent and North London to join us on the ride.

As we were venturing into Kent territory I asked Mike Gallafent if his Branch, Kent, would like to lead the ride once we came across the Dartford Crossing.

We met up with Steve Armstrong and some of the North London branch at the Thurrock Services. After a chat we set off across the Dartford Crossing and met up with Mike as we crossed into Kent.

Mike led us across country to Maidstone Services where we met up with more of the Kent Branch. Here another Mike led the ride down to Rye. Mike led us along some great roads which allowed us to miss heavy traffic on the route to Rye.

When we got to Rye we parked up by the Harbour and found Jim Gill waiting for us.

I asked a passerby to take a picture of us. There were 20 of us on 16 bikes. (See photo).

We then slipped off for lunch, due to the size of our party we ate in different eateries. 7 of us went into the “Kettle O Fish” fish and chip shop. Lovely fish and chips in here.

Time came to set off on the return journey. Mike led again and took us back to Maidstone along some nice back roads.

At Maidstone we had a coffee and a chat.

We said our goodbyes to each other and set off for home from there.

We all agreed that today was a huge success.

It was a great turn out and we all agreed that we will do it again soon.

A huge thanks to the Kent Branch, Mike, for leading a successful ride along some lovely roads.

And North London for joining us.

Well done guys.

Some of us rode 191.8 miles today.

Until the next time.

Roland.
