DVSA Update on HID/LED Conversions

Following the change to the MOT rules that instructed testers to fail any vehicle first used on or after the 1st April 1986 that for headlights that have been converted to use HID/LED the DVSA have issued MOT special notice 01-21.

This notice states “From March 22 2021, not all motorcycles and vehicles will fail the MOT test if their halogen headlamp units have been converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs.”
