Dorset Branch Ride to Loomies

A great ride out today (Sunday 23.8.2020) with four members in attendance.Dave and I met up at Tesco’s petrol station, in Blandford St. Mary, with Matthew and rode on to Loomies to meet with Mark.Little did we know that part of the A272 to Loomies was closed though!Dave’s Satnav took us down some very suspect detour roads! Some would call them ‘nigh on dirt tracks!’ Although, I’ve been told it’s not a Dorset ride out unless there’s a few ‘dirt tracks!’😂
Loomies was packed but good to see a lot of distancing going on.
We stayed at Loomies for a good hour and half whilst everyone tucked into some food. They have a new ‘Loomies Burger’ …. burger with vanilla ice cream!!!None of us tried it – this time!
Then onto Devizes we went.We took in some lovely roads up through Andover, Ludgershall and Upavon.
We stopped at Devizes Wharf and decided to stay there rather than go on to the locks.
A great chat between us about programmes we used to watch as kids, spurred on by the canal boats! Can you guess what we ended up singing?
Quite a spirited ride in places with all 4 of us taking turns at leading.
A 200 mile round trip and the weather was predominantly dry, although I think the whole 6% chance of rain hit us all in one go! 🤣
