Clappers Rally 2024

Beds branch had a good turn out over the bank holiday weekend of 24-27 May for the Clappers rally.

Due to a wedding also having been booked onto the field we were rather crammed into one corner as we were told that the wedding guests wouldn’t want to see the mucky campers ☹. It was cosy! After setting up on the Friday and a meal in the pub we retired and assembled the following morning for breakfast, again in the pub for those that wanted it, and 14 bikes gathered for an excellent ride out led by Roger interspersed with lunch and coffee and cake stops.

Our day was also enlivened by a helicopter landing on the field. On the Saturday evening we had our usual barbeque, followed by more cake😊.

Heavy rain that passed over nearby Flitwick did not trouble us in the evening but struck with a vengeance overnight, resulting in a number of leaking tents and wet sleeping bags, causing the occupants to call it a day and head home the next morning.

After another cooked breakfast the next morning, 4 bikes headed out for a spirited run on cracking roads, again led by Roger, and again featuring cake! Some ate up the pub that evening whilst the rest of us ordered a Dominoes which we ate very communally in the Marquee.

We then managed to strike camp in the dry on Monday morning😊.

Nobody was lost on either run and no-one fell off so I’m chalking that one up as a win!
