Essex Branch Ride to Walton on the Naze

Today, Sunday 6th June, 7 of us met up at McDonalds at Boreham Services for a run to Walton on the Naze. Those of us there were Dawn, Gordon, Phil W, Jeff, Jon, Mick W and myself. The weather was very good for us today. We didn’t have any rain here during the day, but there was rain falling further afield around us, but we remained dry.We set off on the first part of our journey which was to Sudbury for our morning coffee break. We rode via Hatfield Perveral, Maldon, Tiptree, Kelvedon, Coggeshall, Earls Coln, and Halstead. Here we met up with Mick P who lives nearby. This bought our strength up to 8 now.We continued on to Sudbury where we had our coffee stop at Weatherspoons. We sat outside at the tables on the pavement where we had a good old chin wag.We then set off for Walton on the Naze.We rode via Boxford, Hadleigh, East Bergholt. Jeff left us here by the A12. We continued via Manningtree where we stopped for a quick photo by the river. Then onwards via Tendring to Walton. We parked up outside Revved Up and had lunch. It was rally sunny here, but not as packed as I have seen it in the pastWe settled down in some prom seating shelter to eat our lunch. Again we chatted and watched the world go by.Even the beach had plenty of people on it.We finished Lunch off with an ice cream then got ready for our return journey. We set off for Maldon going via Colchester, Tiptree to Greggs in Maldon. Here we had our last group coffee of the day.We then said our goodbyes and made our way home via the A12. Along the A12 we split off for home.We were really lucky with the weather today, we seemed to dodge the clouds.Another great day out on good roads in great company.Until the next ride, stay safe.
