15th – 17th May 2026 South Wales HOC Rally

The Friday found Andrew Young riding solo to join other Wiltshire members at the rally for a very enjoyable weekend with friends new and old.

The Friday saw everyone arriving from noon onwards. So, tents were erected and motorhomes parked & levelled for the weekend. Let the social gatherings begin and the refreshing beverages be drank… 🥳 As the first evening drew to an end, rally goers drifted away to their temporary homes from home.

On Saturday, two ridouts were planned. An off-road, muddy, shorter excursion and the traditional, longer tarmac road ride out. I opted for the road ride, which was very enjoyable, with lovely flowing roads over the Black Mountains to the Owls’ Nest at Llandovery. A welcome Coffee/rest/bike admiring stop where a cuppa ☕️ and some tasty 🍰 were enjoyed. We then set off for a lunchtime stop at Aberaeron. Here, as I’d earlier made the basic error of removing my winter liner from my jacket, 🥶 I bought a new jumper to retain a bit of body heat (££s 😫)!

We then rode on to Aberystwyth for a short comfort break. Leaving here, we took a longer, scenic route via Rhayader for a mid afternoon, short comfort break. Setting off again, we pulled in for another brief coffee ☕️ stop at Builth. Then it was back over the mountain, through Brecon & return to site. It was a great ride with some mixed, flowing roads & amazing views.

The off road ride was a success too, albeit with one or two minor slips & falls. Judging by the photos & videos already posted, everyone really enjoyed themselves & there were no major ‘dramas’ throughout the day.

Saturday evening saw those that had pre-booked their meal with the pub tucking into some very tasty food, followed by more socialising and the charity raffle in the Club’s marquee.

Well done to S Wales HOC for rasing £160 for the Wales Air Ambulance.👍

Sunday morning found individuals packing up, loading bikes & motorhomes & saying their farewells ’till the next time we meet.

It’s been a great couple of days with like minded friends & I thoughtly enjoyed myself as a foreigner in Wales for the weekend! 😆

I’m already looking forward to the next rally…🏍️🙂
